Expert offers optimistic outlook for entrepreneurs

The National Federation of Independent Businesses' latest Index of Small-Business Optimism indicates that entrepreneurs feel more confident about their future than they have in twenty years. ChicagoBusiness.com recently interviewed Andrew D. Keyt, executive director of the Family Business Center at Loyola University Chicago, for his take on the various opportunities or obstacles small- and family-business owners may encounter in the coming year.

Keyt's top advice for new entrepreneurs right now:
"Pick a business you are passionate about, have a very well developed strategic plan, know the financial benchmarks you need to achieve to be viable, put the right team around you and work your butt off to achieve your dream."
