From Scott Allen, for About.com

Entrepreneurs are a bunch of real dreamers

Thursday January 27, 2005

According to Scotsman.com, "One fifth of businessmen and women spend around 25 hours per week dreaming up new business concepts, mainly outside the office...This means eight weeks a year are spent on coming up with bright ideas."

This echoes what Harvey Mackay says in Swim With the Sharks: "Your best people may spend their most productive time staring at the wall."

No matter how busy you get, be sure to take time to just think. In the car and on the toilet are OK, but allow yourself time to just be creative. It's hard to do that when you're just focused on what's in front of you.

If you have employees, give them time to think, too. Great ideas are far more valuable than hard work.
