Michael Dell - Famous Entrepreneur of the Week

It's funny how timing works out (or doesn't) sometimes. I was good friends with Michael Dell in 2nd and 3rd grade - in fact, my mother was his favorite teacher. Then I was at University of Texas at the same time he was, but didn't even realize it. Unfortunately, that was before the days of tools like Classmates or LinkedIn were around to help you re-connect with old friends and schoolmates. Word to the wise: keep up your connections!

Anyway, at age 40, Michael Dell is now one of the richest people in the world and I'm not (yet!). He's certainly earned it. Dell turned the personal computer industry on its head with radical innovations in manufacturing and distribution, delivering made-to-order PCs direct to the customer. His namesake company, Dell Computer Corporation, is now the world's largest PC manufacturer with over $40 billion in annual revenue. Read more...
