Inc. magazine has named Geomagic founder Ping Fu their Entrepreneur of the Year. Geomagic is the undisputed leader in the field of digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP), a process of scanning an object with optical beams to render a complete 3-D model. In the past five years, Geomagic has grown by a factor of more than 20 to approximately $30 million in annual revenues.
After enduring the very worst of the "cultural revolution" in her native China and a fascinating short stint as an investigative journalist, Ping moved to the United States and eventually switched into the field of computer science. Together with her husband, Herbert Edelsbrunner, she launched Geomagic in 1997.
This is one of the most intriguing and inspirational entrepreneurial success stories I have ever read. I encourage you to read the full story at Inc.com.
