Bootstrapping Beyond the Bubble - Jay Flanzbaum of Online Gigs at SXSW
While I was waiting for the press desk to open, I started chatting with the guy at the table next to me. Wouldn't you know it - he turned out to be an entrepreneur! So we stepped out onto the patio, I pulled my Zen Vision:M out of my pocket, and within seconds we were recording the interview. How cool is that? (OK, I'm sure some of you veteran podcasters aren't especially amazed by that, but I still am.)
Jay Flanzbaum is the founder of Online Gigs, a web-based service that automates the booking and promotional process for bands, booking agents, record companies and music managers. Jay's background is as a music manager, not a technologist, and he has some great tips to share regarding running a tech company as a non-techie. He also offers insights into building a dot-com business in the post-tech-bubble economy. And we took a tangent to talk about the entrepreneurial side of the music business -- musicians, take heed!
It's also available as a podcast via our RSS feeds.
