Heath Row of Squidoo - Interview at SXSW
When marketing guru Seth Godin takes on a new project, people take note. So when he announced his latest project, Squidoo, last October, people began lining up to share their expertise on this platform. Now over 8,000 "lensmasters" have published more than 16,000 "lenses" about everything from how to sell more stuff on eBay to Idaho politics.
Heath Row is Senior Director of Community Development for Squidoo (and, as an aside, also coordinates the Company of Friends, Fast Company's reader community, which is how I first met him). I sat down with him at SXSW and talked with him about how people can make money with Squidoo, both directly and by using it to promote their expertise, as well as how it differs from (and complements) blogging, Wikipedia, and even About.com.
It's also available as a podcast via our RSS feeds.

The concept is similar to that of oondi (http://www.oondi.com) except that oondi will pay out 100% of the advertisement profits to the authors. Their hosting costs are covered by clicks which occur on non-author owned pages like the index but I suppose it’s basically a non-profit organization similar to Wikipedia rather than a commercial one like HubPages or Squidoo.
