Carnival of Home Business Launches
A couple of the posts in this edition, Noah Fleming's "Why you shouldn't start your own business" and Matt Inglot's "The barriers to starting your own business", are focused on debunking the "90% of business fail" myth. While Noah's and Matt's logic is pretty convincing, they're actually right - that "90% of businesses fail" statistic is very misleading. It turns out that businesses cease operations for all kinds of reasons, including acquisitions and mergers, the entrepreneur getting a job offer that's better than running the business, intentional serial entrepreneurship, etc. Bottom line: don't be discouraged by any statistics like this, but do be aware of the many reasons business do fail and prepare and plan in order to avoid them.
On another note, I apologize for the two-week hiatus of the Carnival of Entrepreneurship, but it will be back this week in a new expanded format with some tools to make it a little more manageable for both me and the weekly hosts.

Hi Scott! Just wanted to drop by and let you know the next edition of the Carnival of Home Business will be hosted at eMomsatHome.com. The topic is “How do you Balance Business and Home Life?”. You added some great value the first time around – might you have some wise words you can submit for the new topic?
