October Surprises for Small Business

Thursday October 26, 2006
An "October surprise" is the bane of politicians - breaking news in October that impacts the outcome of an election. This year we have the North Korean nuclear tests, the Mark Foley congressional page scandal, and rumor of an October surprise from Republican political strategist Karl Rove. Over at Fox News, columnist Susan C. Walker has dreamed up a few possible October surprises that might actually be good for small business, including "a preemptive strike against accounting errors and omissions at small businesses in red states", a new import-export business from Condoleeza Rice, and outsourcing Armed Forces recruiting by paying a hefty referral fee to small businesses owners for each recruit.

Funny stuff... maybe not very practical, but she's at least thinking outside the box.
