What Warren Buffett Looks for in a Company

Wednesday December 6, 2006
Warren Buffett is the world's most successful investor and second-richest person in the world, behind Microsoft founder (and his buddy) Bill Gates. Buffett's approach is known as "value investing". What he looks for are companies whose intrinsic value (based on analysis of the business fundamentals, as opposed to their stock's trading behavior) is significantly higher than their market value.

With Buffett's track record of picking winners, the very things that make a company attractive to him are the very things that make a company both successful in the long run and attractive to investors. So in addition to providing guidance for investors, his techniques also offer an excellent guide for entrepreneurs looking to build long-term value.
