Are you still waiting around for the government to stimulate your personal economy? I'm not.
As entrepreneurs, we are the driving force of the economy. Let's make our own stimulus package.
For a typical small business, direct personal contact -- networking and referrals -- provides 2/3 or more of new business. Referral marketing is both the least expensive and the most effective form of marketing you can do.
So if we want to breathe a little extra life into the economy at a grassroots level, what better way to do so than by making a little extra effort to make referrals?
That's what Make A Referral Week is all about:
Make a Referral Week is an entrepreneurial approach to stimulating the small business economy one referred business at a time. The goal for the week is to generate 1000 referred leads to 1000 deserving small businesses in an effort to highlight the impact of a simple action that could blossom into millions of dollars in new business. Small business is the lifeblood and job-creating engine of the economy and merits the positive attention so often saved for corporate bailout stories.
How can you participate?
- Pledge to make a referral the week of March 9-13. Make it a good referral -- one that will really generate business. Follow up on it too - don't just pass along contact information and walk away.
- Show your support by becoming a sponsor and promoting Make A Referral Week on your own website, blog, Twitter, etc. You can even get a nifty interactive widget like the one at right which will feature updated content as the week approaches and during the event.
The week long event also features a killer list of referral experts providing valuable marketing advice.
Do your part to stimulate the economy by telling your world about making referrals and Make a Referral Week - you'll be in good company.

By the way. I also subscribed to your blog and look forward to keeping up date with your posts
Scott, thanks for bringing this to everyones attention. Networking is all about making referrals to others. I have been “the go to resource lady” for as many years as I can remember
The truth is that the entire capitalist world revolves around referrals.
And, ladies and gentlemen, don’t forget to pen a short “thank you note” to that person who thought enough of you to send a referral!Maybelline Masacara anyone, LOL ?
Great minds run the same channels, my mother always said. Our client teams are using the last week of each month as “Business Booster” week–making an introduction or referral that will help someone else’s business.
Let’s all keep it up!
