10 Management Lessons From a Young Entrepreneur

Ordinarily, I wouldn't put a whole lot of weight in the business advice of a 22-year-old, but in the case of Scott Smigler, who runs a $300,000 company with a staff of five that he started as a freshman in high school, I'll make an exception. And to top it all off, he has grown that business while maintaining a 3.7 GPA as a finance major at Bentley College and running the school Entrepreneurship Society (which he founded).

In the latest issue of Entrepreneur Magazine, Scott offers 10 tips to entrepreneurs of all ages. In particular, I like his final words of advice:

"Don't forget to find the correct balance of work and play. Although starting and running your own company requires much focus, dedication and time, you must strive to maintain a balance in your life. As much as you want your business to succeed, you have to recognize that it doesn't have to be at the expense of not having a life outside of it. Being properly structured in your business also means being structured enough to allow yourself some personal time off."
