How do you define an "entrepreneur"? For me it's a person who is driven, sometimes idiosyncratic, passionate about building things and determined to use every resource to its fullest. Though I didn't set out early in my career to be an entrepreneur, once I discovered those tendencies in myself, I was determined to strike out on my own.

Experience:

I started my career working as a copywriter in large media companies and witnessed, firsthand, major transformations in publishing, television, and marketing wrought by shifts in digital technology. I was thrilled to see new platforms like Twitter and Facebook giving a lot more voice to individuals and I took advantage of low-cost technology options to bootstrap a number of very successful web initiatives for nonprofits like the Film Society of Lincoln Center. As tech boomed in New York City, I was bitten by the entrepreneurship bug and went to work at a startup to watch a business being built from the ground up. A few months ago I struck out on my own to run a consulting business and explore as many new opportunities as possible.

Areas that I feel particularly passionate about and will likely inform my Entrepreneurs site include: marketing, social media, publishing, filmmaking, blogging, technology, micro-startups, work/life balance, making the leap to entrepreneurship and creative fundraising ideas. I also blog about technology, social media, small business and my dog at Jellybean Boom.
