Why is your business unique and what's your pitch?

My business is unique because it helps Christian women lose weight with a 10-minute aerobics video that comes with a free eBook which is filled with biblical encouragement and practical tips for losing weight and keeping it off.

People always ask how I stay in such good shape. I've used dance as a form of exercise since the age of twelve. I'm also a former Certified Group Exercise Instructor with the National Dance and Exercise Instructor's Trainers Association. I started Dance Your Abs Away to share my workout and fitness tips with women around the world.

What led you to start the business?

I love movement, fitness and dance. I was working as an Administrative Assistant at an IT company, but was very bored and unfulfilled. I had always wanted to start my own business, so I found away to turn my passion for dance into a business.

I purchased a laptop and a Flip video camera, then recorded my own fitness video. I thought of a catchy business name, bought the web domain and hosting. The rest is history.

Lessons Learned

  • Do what you love. Follow your passion. That's the only thing sometimes that will sustain you during low points.
  • Don't worry about starting small. You'll grow with time.
  • Read. Read. Read. It's important in learning what the marketplace wants. It will also help you to develop your unique niche product or service.
