Why is your business unique and what's your pitch?
Sandy (Custombabyshoegirl) has over 22 years of children's retail/customer care experience in the entrepreneurial arena. She created the largest children's consignment business in New England, sold the company, moved to Henderson, NV and started Kids N Caboodle.com, an online personalized baby shoe company. People can create and design wow personalized baby shoes and baby gifts. The baby shoes are handcrafted in the US & Canada.
Kids N Caboodle was created on a shoe string, optimized on a shoe string, as Sandy is an ETERNAL ENTREPRENEUR>
What led you to start the business?
This baby boomer loves business, has owned 4 businesses, and thrives on creating businesses. I realized that I need to work for myself, as I have most of my working life. I love the challenge creating a new startup company from scratch. I know the children's wear industry, have years of customer care experience, and felt that I could combine my passion for business, excellent products and WOW customer care to create Kids N Caboodle.com. I am also a former elementary school teacher and like creativity. I also am teaching myself website marketing and website optimization and have used these new skills to promote myself using Facebook, Twiiter, Flickr, and more.
Lessons Learned
- I would tell anyone who wants to start an online company, to feel very passionate about your product, research the market to find if there is a demand, hold on to your cash, manage your time, read lots of SEO books, blog, promote, and network if possible. Find the best hosting sites such as GoDaddy.com, and find an excellent web design company to give your business a professional edge.
