Why is your business unique and what's your pitch?

Hitch helps companies hire the best marketing agency.

We're unique because we bring a service typically only available to large brands to challenger brands & small to mid-sized agencies.

Small agencies provide top talent at a much lower cost than larger agencies but they often get passed over in searches.

Info abounds on the net but what CMOs tell us they need are filters, service and more time. It's harder than ever for a CMO to choose the best marketing partners from a crowded field without a great deal of research. We do the in depth work that provides assurance they've made the absolute best choice.

What led you to start the business?

We recognize that challenger brands need help choosing a marketing partner because marketing is so fragmented today. Making the best choice for your company isn't as simple as doing a Google search and gathering capabilities pieces. An agency choice is as important as bringing on a new business partner--because that's what the best agencies are to their clients.

The right in depth work greatly reduces or removes the risk of making the wrong agency choice. For a challenger brand with a limited budget that risk is frankly, greater than with global brands. Hitch removes that risk.

My background as a successful small business owner as well as a life in a boutique ad agency made this consultancy a natural fit for me. It's a space I know well and I can provide real insight to my clients and bring clarity and speed to what can be a frustrating, daunting process.

I know at the end of the day, I've been a success when the two parties, agency and client, come together faster and with better results than they might have, had they not worked with Hitch. It's a good feeling to have a client say, you saved us and you saved a ton of time and money.

Lessons Learned

  • Don't be so rigid with rules. Be willing to make adjustments as you go because process shouldn't trump people!
  • Stay open minded and keep a broad field of vision in your consideration of all the facts.
  • Educate yourself. Dig deep. Be a student--be a sponge. The internet has turned people into surface level 'grazers' but what differentiates companies is their depth of expertise. Don't be afraid to be a specialist.
  • Speak your mind and challenge ideas--it's what you're there for.
  • Do one thing and do it exceedingly well.
  • It's a cliché, but true: When you love what you do, it's not work.

I like that you can describe Hitch perfectly in ONE clear sentence. Thank you! The concept of Hitch is fascinating. In a former life I had to choose ad agencies and it was always a struggle (and a hassle). Enjoyed reading your bio on your website, too. I am going to take a new look at mine. When I was 12, I had a business renting coat-racks to tenants in my apartment complex. The landlord painted apartments every 3 years and there were about 10,000 apartments in the complex, so I provided the coat racks for people to put their clothes while their closets were being painted. Not a bad little business.
