If you followed entrepreneurship in 2010, you know the name Gary Vaynerchuk -- author of New York Times Bestseller Crush It!: Why Now is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion, wine entrepreneur and video blog host of WineLibraryTV.com, and expert on social media's implications for business.
We thought it would be informative to spend 10 minutes with Gary to get his take on 2011 and what it may hold in store for start-ups and entrepreneurship. Listen to our interview with Gary.
For those of you hoping 2011 will bring a return to manufacturing entrepreneurship in America, fuggedaboudit. Gary foresees a huge interest in mobile application start-ups, especially in the gaming and virtual currency business. We're talking about more products like Smurfs' Village for iPhone and companies that sell virtual currencies. (Did you know six barrels of Smurfberries cost $29.99 in real dollars? But it's worth it.)
Gary isn't perturbed by the coming boom in companies that "manufacture" mobile games and what they may say about our culture. The positive aspects -- that we are communicating with each other -- outweigh the questionable subject matter that we're communicating about.
Stay tuned for Gary's new book, The Thank You Economy, which will be published in March 2011. In it, Vaynerchuk lays out his vision of the Internet's impact on customer service and relationships, and how marketers can adapt their social media strategies for what's ahead.
