Why is your business unique and what's your pitch?

Elite Moving Labor caters to a growing niche category within the moving industry. We provide movers without the truck to handle all labor only needs, from loading, unloading, packing and driving.

The self service moving industry is growing at a rapid pace and more and more consumers are choosing hybrid moving methods like mobile storage, freight and truck rentals. When they choose one of the above methods they generally need movers, not the truck, to professionally move their items.

Our niche also applies to home renovations and home staging because customers need furniture moved but not transported.

What led you to start the business?

Dumb luck really. I helped a neighbor move in 2004 and within a week I had more than ten people ask for my help. Quickly realizing there were no companies that specialized in labor we began offering service in the Washington D.C. market. We are still the largest provider of moving labor in Washington D.C. and the metro area and in 2008 we ventured into the national market. We are now the largest provider of licensed and insured moving labor across in the United States and work with numerous transportation companies, government agencies and firms.

Lessons Learned

  • The Internet is your greatest tool in obtaining affordable growth
  • There are very few people who understand what "professional" means. If you can present yourself and your company in a professional manner you will have an advantage over your competitor.
  • Never stop innovating and growing or someone will surpass you.
  • The future is unknown, when business is great invest the profits back into the business and create more revenue streams.
  • Branding your name is a major aspect of future success. It takes just the right mixture of creativity and uniqueness.

This is a great concept. Sometimes the obvious things are overlooked. Good luck!
